This is love, straight up.
Hungarian Bernese Mountain Dog Club Shows
Our love story with the Hungarian Bernese Mountain Dog Club began in 2018, when we took part in one of their shows for the very first time.
That year we entered Bosco and Daisy in the HBMD Club Specialty Show, where Daisy won the intermediate class, and Bosco finished the day as the Best of Breed winner. It was a special honor that the judging was done by János Pintér, the president of the Club.
We didn’t know it back then, but with that victory Bosco started an incredible Best in Specialty Show streak for our dogs—one that he himself, then Tuppen, and later Magnus would continue in the following years.
In 2019, one year later, the Club Show of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club was held in Komárom, judged by Sven Lovenkjaer, where once again Bosco proved to be the Best of Breed of the show.
In 2020, we thought long and hard about whether to enter Bosco again after such a winning streak, but in the end, we decided to bring him—along with several of our other dogs. Dr. Katalin Balogh awarded Bosco the title of Best Male (Club Winner), as well as Best of Opposite Sex. The Best in Show title, to our great joy, went to Tuppen, meaning that year we exhibited both the Best Male and the Best Female Bernese Mountain Dog of the annual Club Show.
(A few years later, Tuppen also won Best in Show at the show of Hungary’s smaller Bernese Mountain Dog breed club, the SHKME.)
In the following years, we had a few more great results at the show of the Hungarian Bernese Mountain Dog Club—Penny, for example, became Female Club Winner in 2021—but we had to wait a few years until the next Jacks and Bears generation was ready to take home another BISS (Best in Speciality Show) title.
By 2024, we were getting very close again: Magnus entered this show as an adult for the first time and finished as Best Male, Club Winner, and Best of Opposite Sex at the HBMD Club Show.
And then, in 2025, the breakthrough finally happened—under Peter Firic’s judging, Magnus won the annual HBMD Club Show! An unbelievable pride, an overwhelming joy.
Bosco, Tuppen, Magnus… incredible.
I truly hope we can continue this amazing streak in the years to come.
Bosco
It’s very hard to write about this, because Bosco is no longer with us. His incredible show successes were never what truly mattered—Bosco himself was what mattered. The family member, the friend, the pack leader. It’s still hard to look at his photos, and we miss him deeply.
If he and Daisy hadn’t been as wonderful as they were, there would be no Jacks and Bears today—no more of our dogs, and you wouldn’t be reading this post.
Bosco was the greatest.
